Mirrors or not....?
So on my r6 the mirrors were so short I never could use them so I ended up removing them completely. But with my zx6 they are actually long enough to see so I catch myself using them instead of a shoulder check (which I never did before) anyway I was wondering how many people still have their mirrors and use them

RE: Mirrors or not....?
Nevada law requires both mirrors be attached and functioning.

yeah dont take em off or at the least find a replacement that works for you, pig spotters are low profile but terrible view. Others are ones that go on the end of your handle bars and fold inward, upward, etc..

RE: Mirrors or not....?
I have and use them on my zx6r. But bar end mirrors maybe a choice you concider.. You won't have to use them and they won't be right in your line of sight.

You only get back what you put in!

RE: Mirrors or not....?
Keep them.

1- The law.
2- They are very useful...Use them.
3- And also shoulder check. One doesn't replace the other.

RE: Mirrors or not....?
As a daily rider I understand what you're saying. And I've been guilty of that habit too. When there aren't a whole lot of cars around and I've been paying attention to the mirror, sometimes I'll change lanes without shoulder checking it. Or when moving over two or more lanes of traffic, I'll do a big shoulder check for the first lane and then the mirrors for the others. It's a bad habit, and there have been times when I've done wrong by a cager and started to get over on them without checking (talk about role-reversal). So I try to check out the mirrors first, do a real quick shoulder check just to make sure the blind spot's good, then get over.

Exactly lol.... My biggest problem with it tho is when you know you passed the last car in that lane before you starting getting over but someone wants to try and keep up with you so they pop up out if nowhere in front of the car you just passed....I can see myself getting into trouble like that

RE: Mirrors or not....?
I use my mirrors mostly to monitor what traffic is doing behind me, (jackass tailgating me, emergency vehicle approaching, etc), but for ALL lane changes, I try to use the shoulder check. I just feel that by actually looking, you have a complete understanding of where everybody is versus just checking the mirrors, and there's no blind spot when you actually look over your shoulder. When I'm stopped at traffic lights or stop signs, I use the mirrors also to make sure I'm not about to be rear ended. With the increase in distracted driving accidents, I'd rather have larger mirrors that are functional, than the smaller ones that basically serve no purpose other than "just" keeping me legal. There's actually an article in the newest Sport Rider magazine that talks about this very subject...*using mirrors*
