No need to take fairings off.
Take a look around. You should be able to spot the general area where its coming from.

That year had a know issue with the valve cover gasket leaking oil
There is a newer part number for the gasket (and I think the valve cover bolts/o-rings).

You might see it as a streak of oil from the left side, on the fairing, just behind the motor.
And oil above the headers where they meet the motor.
