So, a few weekends ago, That Guy and myself went on a dirt ride around Mt. Charleston.
When I got home, I noticed that the coolant reservoir had a big hole on its side, and the coolant was all gone...radiators were dry. I'm guessing the bike ran hot the last half of our ride.
I believe the cause was an incorrectly marked radiator cap.
It was marked as a 1.3 bar cap, but the spring on it seems softer than the stock one (1.1 bar).
So, I think it boiled over at too low of a temp, and managed to melt the hole on the plastic coolant reservoir...and melted the reservoir cap breather valve.
Anyway...new coolant reservoir/cap and an upgraded coolant pump just or kicks.
New and old reservoirs...
Old and new coolant pumps/covers...
