Helmet Cam Ideas
Alright, I'm looking to get myself a helmet cam, but not sure I'm ready to fork out $200 plus dollars on a gopro right now. So, for those of you that have a helmet cam, which one do you have and what do you think about it?

RE: Helmet Cam Ideas
I suggest you get an older GoPro.
Hero HD or HD 2. More than adequate quality and can be had for cheap. Plenty of mounting accessories and proven design. --- Charlie don't surf! The Cake is a Lie! You're gonna love my nuts! RE: Helmet Cam Ideas
I second. Features of the new ones are awesome, but stupid expensive. Also, if you pick up an older one now, down the road you can pick up a top of the line one, and use the older one as second camera rear/fork mounted.

RE: Helmet Cam Ideas
I still have my go pro 1 hd and STILL works and is more then enough for someone who just wants to record some riding. The battery was the only draw back I think about the gopro hd... still got about 3 hours of ride time recorded I think.

+1. I have the First go pro and it records just fine. The new ones don't have enough cool features yet for me to justify buying the latest and greatest. Plus all the mounting accessories fit the while go pro line up. If battery life is a problem you could always get the Battery backpack.

RE: Helmet Cam Ideas
I'd get a used Hero 2. I have a Hero and a Hero 2, the 2 produces better video, and white balances better. I am so satisfied with the 2 I feel no need to get a 3.
I might be to old to cut the mustard, but I can still lick the jar. |

RE: Helmet Cam Ideas
If its the Hero HD from around 2010 (and NOT the Hero HD 960) then its a good deal. You could always offer up a little less for it.
Yes, the HD Hero 2 will be a little better, the HD Hero 3 even better/bigger improvement, and the HD Hero 3+ is a little better than the 3. Figure out your budget, and get the best one you can. But all of them from the Hero HD on are more than good enough for YouTube/Facebook/computer type videos.
