So you currently run a 200? What kind of bike so you have? Typically a 1000 will run a 190 or 200 wide tire, but mostly the 190. 600/750's will run a 180. The difference between the 50 and the 55 is the sidewalk height. A 55 hight is taller in profile, therefore your turn in will be much better. The 55 has a rounder profile than a 50.

Go with whatever width tire your bike came with. Same with sidewall highth. Also the extra hight in the side wall will be a little more forgiving over bumps.

I dont wanna be "that guy" here but the 50 or 55 actually has NOTHING to do with sidewall height... common misconception. it is the entire side profile from rim to the top of the tire. A 55 and a 50 have an identical sidewall in most cases. The difference lies in the fact there there is a taller profile and in most cases, the 55 will have a little more tread surface as the width is still the same, they add to the tread to increase height, allowing for a steeper profile. Think circumference, both around the tire and from side to side of the tread.

Basically, if you lay the tire flat on its side, and used a ruler to measure the width from the ground to the highest point, thats your tire width (190, 200, ect). The 50 or 55 is a percentage of that width. For example, if you have a 200/50/17, the width in the widest part of the tire is 200mm and the side profile is 50% of that, or 100mm from rim to the top of the tread in the middle of the tire.

Some race tires run as high as a 60 or 65... that is a STEEP tire. I have mounted a few.

One MAJOR consideration you need to make is will a taller profile tire physically fit into the swingarm. My RC51 has a 190/50 and many SP2 owners go to a 55 for better turn in, including myself when I get new rubber. HOWEVER, on some of the SP1 RCs, the 55 rubs with a new chain.

Also, your bike should have a 190 I think. Not too many sport bikes came with a 200 rear and a 190 will give you MANY more tire options. Your bike likely has a 6.5" rear wheel as most litre bikes have. If I was you, and remeber im not, I would put a 190/55 on it and be done with it. your talking a difference of under 1/2" anyway and you can generally vary tire sizes one size up or down for any given rim. If you cant find out exactly what stock tire size is, check your wheel. It is usually stamped somewhere with the size, something like "17x6.5" or "17x7.0". My money is on a 6.5 and if so, use a 190. use a 200 if the rim is 7 inches.
