Like has already been said, the front brakes provide the majority of the stopping power for both streeet and track, but good use of both has it's benefits. Generally, like some others have said, I use mostly front brakes for normal stopping, but will incorporate a little rear brake to stabilize the chassis a little bit when coming to a complete stop, or when navigating parking lots and I want to keep the bike more upright. I find that I can ride slower (like almost stopped) when I use the rear brake, and not the front, when doing slow maneuvers. And of course, it's both brakes in all emergency situations whether it's street or track
