6/14/2014 - In Search of Potosi Mine
I wanted to go check out Potosi mine.
It is Nevada's oldest mine (1847). Lead, silver, zinc... It has a long history, and several cycles of activity/inactivity. Customary pit stop at the Saloon... Somewhere along the way... Water collection tanks setup for the birds to drink from... Potosi mine...Nevada's oldest mine (1847)....zinc... End of the trail...the rest is a hike all the way to the top...you can see one of the mine entrances at the top/right of the picture... View back from the end of the trail leading to the mine... Found some fixer-uppers..Anyone interested ? Wild burro keeping an eye on me... Old A-Frame with an "electric fence"..Riiight... Fence is not isolated from the ground... And this is supposed to be the source of electricity for the fence... A 2 foot long piece of cable with one end buried on the ground and the other taped to the fence using HVAC duct tape. Watering hole... The water comes out from here... This little guy was drinking water... Foundations from the old mine cable pulley/tramway system that moved material and men to/from the mine site... And I found a pirate's treasure...X marks the spot, right? That's how the pirate maps mark the spot! --- Charlie don't surf! The Cake is a Lie! You're gonna love my nuts!
